Opinion
The Best GTA Radio Stations Ever
Radio is the part of Grand Theft Auto most people remember best. We ranked the ten stations we would never switch off, using what the series itself documents about each: who hosted it, what it played and who turned up. The ranking is opinion. The details are sourced.

This is fan opinion, not reporting. Game facts come from the sources below; the judgements are ours.
How we ranked them
We weighed four things: the personality of the DJ, how well the music fits the setting, how distinct the station is from the others, and how much of a reason it gives you to keep driving. We used only what Grand Theft Wiki documents, and we leave out voice actors whenever the page does not name them.
Few outlets rank GTA stations with named critics, and the ranking lists we found were secondary. Sportskeeda, for example, puts Flash FM first and K-DST second in its own top-five list, and a PowerUpGaming tier list puts Flash FM in its top tier for Vice City. A PC Gamer debate piece has a writer naming K-DST as a favourite. These are fan and enthusiast opinions, like ours.
1. Flash FM (Vice City, Vice City Stories)
Flash FM plays pop rock, synthpop and new wave, hosted by DJ Toni, with Teri joining in Vice City Stories. It is the station that defines the 1980s feel of Vice City: bright, a little cheesy, and always the right choice for a drive along the beach. Grand Theft Wiki does not name the voice actors, but the format does not need them.
It earns the top spot for another reason. Rockstar has brought the name back for GTA VI, describing Flash FM as the Vice City institution that delivers the best in pop music, with hosts Robyn and Alex. Whatever else changes, that is a nod to how much the station meant.
2. K-DST (San Andreas)
K-DST is classic rock and blues rock, hosted by Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith, who is voiced by W. Axl Rose. Having one of the most famous rock singers of the era play the DJ was a stroke of genius, and it makes the station feel like a real late-night broadcast. It is the soundtrack to long highway drives between San Andreas' cities.
3. Emotion 98.3 (Vice City, Vice City Stories)
Emotion 98.3 is power ballads and soft and pop rock, hosted by Fernando Martinez, voiced by Frank Chavez, in Vice City, and by Lionel Makepeace, voiced by Steve Stratton, in Vice City Stories. It is deliberately over the top and completely sincere, which is why it works. No other station is so happy to be mocked and so good at making you sing along.
4. V-Rock (Vice City, Vice City Stories)
V-Rock is heavy, thrash and glam metal and hard rock, with Lazlow hosting in Vice City and Couzin Ed in Vice City Stories. Grand Theft Wiki notes that Jezz Torrent of the fictional band Love Fist is heard on air, a small joke that fits the station's tone. It is the loudest corner of the dial, and the one the new Chamber 106.6 will be measured against.
5. Radio Los Santos (San Andreas)
Radio Los Santos is West Coast hip-hop and gangsta rap, hosted by DJ Julio G, and Grand Theft Wiki lists B-Real of Cypress Hill as appearing on it. It is the sound of the city CJ is returning to, and it suits Los Santos so completely that it is hard to imagine the game without it.
6. Liberty Rock Radio 97.8 (IV and Episodes from Liberty City)
Iggy Pop hosts Liberty Rock Radio 97.8, which plays hard and pop rock in GTA IV and heavy metal in the Episodes from Liberty City expansions. It is one of the few stations where the host is the draw, and Iggy Pop's presence gives it a weight the format alone would not.
7. The Lab (GTA V)
The Lab plays alternative hip-hop, indie and electronica, hosted and curated by Alchemist and Oh No of Gangrene. Grand Theft Wiki lists pairings with Killer Mike, Freddie Gibbs, Earl Sweatshirt, Aloe Blacc and E-40. It is the rare in-game station that feels like a producer's playlist rather than a theme, and it rewards listening.
8. Wave 103 (Vice City, Vice City Stories)
Wave 103 plays new wave, synthpop and post-punk, with Adam First hosting in Vice City and Trish Camden joining him in Vice City Stories. It is the cooler, moodier sibling of Flash FM, and the one to switch to after midnight.
9. Fever 105 (Vice City)
Fever 105 plays post-disco, funk and contemporary R&B, hosted by Oliver "Ladykiller" Biscuit, voiced by Julius Dyson. It is the station that gives Vice City its glamour, and a reminder that the series has always had room for something smoother than rock.
10. Rebel Radio (GTA V)
Rebel Radio plays outlaw country, Southern rock and rockabilly, hosted by Jesco White. It matters here because Back Country Radio is the closest thing in GTA VI, and Rebel Radio is the best sign of how good the series is at country when it tries.
Honourable mentions
Radio Mirror Park (GTA V) is synthpop, chillwave and indietronica, hosted and curated by Twin Shadow. Radio X (San Andreas) is alternative rock and grunge with DJ Sage. K Rose (San Andreas) is country with Mary-Beth Maybell. West Coast Classics (GTA V) is West Coast golden-age hip-hop with DJ Pooh. We have not covered Vladivostok FM, Los Santos Rock Radio or Non-Stop-Pop FM, because we could not source their details.
What GTA 6 has to beat
Rockstar has announced six stations: Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. That is fewer than the series' recent peaks, but it adds on-demand podcasts and radio on foot. Whether it earns a place in a list like this comes down to whether you leave a station on after the mission ends. See our guide to how each new station compares with the series' history.
