Facts come from the named sources below. Where a claim is only reported, or rests on one person's account, we say so.
Station counts, game by game
These counts come from the lists on Grand Theft Wiki. They include talk stations, and do not count the MP3 player or user-track options on PC and Xbox. Other guides count differently, so treat the numbers as a guide.
| Game | First release | Stations | Talk station(s) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto III | October 2001 (PS2) | 9 | Chatterbox FM |
| Grand Theft Auto: Vice City | October 29, 2002 (PS2, US) | 9 | VCPR (KCHAT is listed as interviews) |
| Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas | October 26, 2004 (PS2, US) | 11 | WCTR |
| Grand Theft Auto IV | April 29, 2008 | 19 | Integrity 2.0, PLR, WKTT Radio |
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 17, 2013 | 18 | Blaine County Talk Radio, WCTR 95.6 |
| Grand Theft Auto VI | November 19, 2026 | 6 announced | None announced; podcasts are on demand |
Flash FM: from Vice City to Leonida
Flash FM appears in Vice City and Vice City Stories, as a pop, synthpop and new wave station. Its DJs are Toni in Vice City, with Teri joining in Vice City Stories. The name came back in GTA VI as the Vice City pop station Rockstar describes, now hosted by Robyn and Alex.
Rockstar has not said how much the new Flash FM shares with the old one beyond the name and the genre.
What GTA 6 adds
Rockstar says GTA VI has the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts in the series, from Classic Rock to Talk Radio. Two things are new, according to Rockstar: on-demand podcasts, and being able to hear radio and podcasts in vehicles and on foot, through headphones and earbuds connected to the player's smartphone.
Rockstar has not shown the controls or the interface, so we do not know how switching stations works. Our radio wheel on the home page is a fan-made toy, not Rockstar's design.
The six stations so far
Cocoteo FM (modern Latin), Back Country Radio (country), AfroBank FM (African music), The Chamber 106.6 (metal), Flash FM (pop) and Dirty South Classics (regional rap and hip-hop). Rockstar has also mentioned stations from Classic Rock to Talk Radio that it has not named. See our stations page for the hosts.
